Placement and Assessment

The Springboard Placement Process

  • Request for brochure.
  • Referral by Local Authority or other agency.
  • Papers sent to Springboard.
  • Contact between Springboard and current or most recent education placement.
  • Visit by young person and adult with parental responsibility.
  • Risk assessment of pupil
  • Suitability of placement agreed.
  • Funding agreed.
  • Young person placed.

Assessment of Educational Needs

  • Springboard teachers carefully consider the pupil’s Statement of Educational Needs
  • Base-line assessments are carried out in Numeracy, Literacy and Science
  • Behaviour is observed and analysed
  • Specific requirements of the Placing Authority are ascertained.
  • Parents or carers and the young person are consulted
  • An Individual Education Plan and Behaviour Plan are drawn up
  • Appropriate modules of work are identified

Accreditation is available to suit the abilities and aptitudes of all pupils. AQA certificates; from  Entry Levels 1,2,3 to Adult Literacy and Numeracy 1, 2 plus GCSE courses are accessed as appropriate.
