Therapeutic Approach

Springboard Junior staff adopt a therapeutic approach to our vulnerable students.

We explore the reasons behind student behaviour including attachment issues, early trauma and learning difficulties. As a core staff team we work with our students 9-3pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday and 9-12 on a Thursday.

We provide hands on direction, support and modelling for appropriate social, behaviour and learning skills.

The children have regular sessions on emotional literacy, thinking skills, social and emotional aspects of learning and social use of language. There is a weekly individual slot to talk and play with the Head teacher, to be supported with any worries and to understand their value as individuals. Thursday afternoons are reserved for student appointments with Camhs, social workers and health practitioners. It also provides students with an opportunity for quality time with a parent/carer while siblings are at school.

Springboard Junior staff team receives supervision and training on Thursday afternoons including on-going and regular input from a child psychotherapist. This informs and supports their work with vulnerable students with complex issues.
