Simon Yorke-Johnson  - Head Teacher

Simon Yorke-Johnson is a qualified teacher who has worked within the education system for 27 years. He has a Degree in Environmental Studies, PGCE and Graduate Certificate in Maths Education. Simon has worked in both primary and secondary education, and as a private maths tutor. Simon is also a qualified fishing coach. Simon oversees the running of Springboard, as well as teaching maths to GCSE level.

 

Paul Doo - Class Teacher

Paul Doo works as classroom teacher. He has a Degree in Criminology and National Diploma in Public Services. Paul has experience working in American summer camps with young people with physical and mental difficulties and over 2 years experience working with EBD Young People in the UK. Paul’s main focus for teaching is English; however he also covers numerous subjects such as Citizenship, science, R.E, PSHE. Paul is a young, dynamic teacher who builds a safe, yet creative and engaging learning environment for young people to expand their knowledge, challenging their thinking and inspire their imagination.

Niki Loversidge - Outdoor Activity Co-ordinator / Education Project worker

Niki Loversidge is our dedicated out-door activity co-ordinator. He has worked within the leisure industry and has experience in youth work, working with physical disability and has a football coaching qualification. Niki is also our main first-aider. Niki has spent the last few years building strong links with the local sports and outdoor activity centres, allowing gym access, a variety of activities and access to work experience placements. He also utilises the local South Downs for creative team-building and self-esteem activities. Niki has connections with Hove amateur boxing centre, which supports the school with additional after-school boxing sessions for young people. Niki also supports the educational development of our young people within the classroom setting.

Angie Harrocks - Education Project Worker & L.A.C. co-ordinator and Family Support Worker

Ange Harrocks has 25 years experience within various services for young people, including schooling and fostering services. Ange has NVQ Level 3 Classroom assistant and is trained in Food Hygiene and First Aid. Ange has completed numerous courses including Every Child Matters, Child Protection, Basic Law for Children & Children’s Rights for Education. Ange has strong communications skills and excels at engaging the most reluctant of young people. Ange works closely with the therapeutic interventions and supports this by filling the role of family support worker, attending meetings for young people and forging strong links with the family home. Ange also supports the educational development of students in the classroom setting.

Mark Davies - Teacher

 

Mark is a qualified teacher with a broad and diverse range of interests that enhance the learning experience for students. He is from a scientific background, now specialising in teaching maths. Mark has a degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, a PGCE in Secondary Science and additional training in teaching physics. He enjoys an active life and has a variety of hobbies including juggling, playing the piano and swing dancing. Mark is also a keen skateboarder and enjoys going to see live comedy and the cinema with his family. Mark’s skills are his ability to listen, empathise, be creative and promote child centred learning.
